Dr. Michael Mayrsohn was raised in a household where discussions about private practice in physical therapy were routine. He graduated from Syracuse University's Whitman School of Management in 2008 and earned his Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Stony Brook University in 2012. Dr. Mayrsohn is board certified in Orthopedics and holds extensive training as a manual therapist. He joined Metro Physical & Aquatic Therapy in 2014 as a staff physical therapist at the Garden City office. At that time, Metro operated 5 locations with fewer than 50 employees. Today, Metro has expanded to 45 locations with over 700 employees and 400 providers, establishing itself as one of the largest private practices in the region.

Since assuming the role of CEO in 2016, Dr. Mayrsohn's leadership has guided Metro through 25 acquisitions, and the opening of 15 Denovo locations since 2017. Recognizing the importance of strong leadership, he launched an emerging leadership program in 2019 aimed at nurturing leaders within the organization. The ongoing program spans one year, with an average class size of 30 participants. Dr. Mayrsohn envisions Metro becoming a top-performing PT company nationally and aims to be an influential leader in the field.
