Is the National Drought Agreement still best practice?

As parts of New South Wales deal with flooding, yet again, much of South Australia and parts of Western Victoria are hoping for some relief from the big dry this coming weekend.

But questions are being asked about whether the Intergovernmental Agreement in 2013 on National Drought reform -- which decided to no longer make formal national declarations of drought -- is still best practice.

The decision, from more than a decade ago, is still current in the National Drought Agreement which expires in 2029.
