In this episode of MUSIC SCENE, host Nanette Wiser gets groovy with Ron Goldstein and Stacie Steinke, two of the Festive Florida Singers who are real actors and musicians who perform at musical theaters, opera and light opera productions around Tampa Bay. Their Retro Series, Polyester Please, is a blast from the past. They will perform indoors at the newly opened Beach Theater at the Sunday Corey Avenue Market Sunday, July 27. Festive Florida Singers - Where Memories and Music Meet the Sea produces three shows currently! https://www.facebook.com/festivefloridasingers
(1) If 70s music is your Groove, you'll love "Polyester Please!" Ron Goldstein as dj Roy LaCroix hosts a Variety Show transports audiences to the decade of cassette tapes, bell bottoms, and big hair in the format of your favorite variety show. Audiences rock out by singing along, dancing, and dressing up to the best the ‘70s offered in soft rock, disco, rock, and punk.
(2) If the 60s is your Groove, “Both Sides Now” vocal/guitar/keyboard duo, remembers a time of poetic lyrics and solid guitar licks.
(3) During the holiday seasons you'll see them dressed in period costume and sing as Victorian carolers performing traditional and contemporary holiday favorites.
ABOUT THE SINGERS They have performed at Busch Gardens, The Straz Center for the Performing Arts, Central Park Performing Arts Center in Largo, Francis Wilson Playhouse, Tarpon Arts Center, and The Palladium with regional and national performing arts organizations. We have also performed as Nashville session singers, at the Kennedy Center in Washington DC, and with NYC based National touring companies. Director Stacie Steinke is in her 13th year of making musical memories for corporate, civic and private events. She founded Festive Singers in the greater Chicago area and then Make-A-Scene Music and Entertainment in DCMetro before arriving in St. Petersburg in 2017. She has been a music director, voice coach and performer for 30+ years. Realtor by day, bon vivant by night, Ron Goldstein studied musical theater and opera, moving from Chicago to St. Petersburg full-time nine years ago. You've seen him on local commercials as well as at Gulfport Community Players playing a King and A Skipper...but his dream role is Sondheim or Tevye in Fiddler on the Roof. Both are active in philanthropic and community organizations.
