Chanukah is the only festival when we pray for a miracle. If one forgets to say Al HaNissim in bentching, there is a HaRachaman to say where we ask Hashem to do miracles for us just like in the time of the Chanukah story. Why are we asking for miracles? We are not supposed to rely on miracles! Because Chanukah is unlike any other festival: we light up the night in the darkest time in the world. It is a time of miracles, when we should pray for unnatural miracles. We pray for all the hostages, along with all the soldiers, Hashem should perform a miracle this Chanukah for them to all return home safe and sound.
