Episode Summary:
Part 1- What are you going to do with your time in retirement? (This episode!)
Part 2- What are your sources of income in retirement?
Part 3- Making it all work
Retirement can seem overwhelming when you consider everything involved with making plans for how you’ll live and how you’ll fund that lifestyle for the rest of your years. But before you get carried away, one of the most important steps is to decide what you want to do with your time during retirement.
We want to make a beautiful retirement easier to plan and accomplish, as we break down big concepts and provide education around them.
As we focus on part 1 of planning your epic retirement in today’s episode, we’re brainstorm and figuring out what it is we want to DO during our retirement years. Retirement isn’t simply a long weekend or an extended vacation; it’s your entire future life.
It’s been shown that when retirees don’t have a full plan of exciting activities, hobbies, travel plans, and people to hang out with, boredom sets in and they’re often back to work within just 6 months of retirement. We don’t want that to be you!
There’s so much adventure and fun to be had in the world! Keep a small notebook available in which you can write down your thoughts around how you’ll spend your time during those retirement years. While you are dreaming and planning your retirement, consider these questions:
● Who will you spend your time with?
● What hobbies will you focus on?
● Will you work during retirement?
● Do you plan on traveling?
● What do you want to learn?
● How will you get your exercise? Healthy eating?
● Where will you live?
In this episode, you’ll also hear:
● Why it is important to become a lifetime learner
● Retirees have no limits to what they can accomplish
● What it means to dive deep into what you want out of life
