In this episode of Real Talk, I speak with Jan Brzeski, Founder of Sage Credit Investment Partners LLC (SCIP). SCIP, based in Durham, NC, operates primarily in North Carolina and California, specializes in non-bank Business Purpose Loan/Residential Transitional Lending (BPL/RTL). SCIP provides senior-secured, short-term loans (approximately two years or less) for acquisitions, bridge financing, renovations, and construction projects. In addition to lending, SCIP offers note financing to other private lenders on a limited basis.

We discuss:

* How to get scale when providing sub $10 million loan amounts

* How the Los Angeles fires have created opportunities for debt funds

* Whether debt funds should use their own leverage to capitalize their deals
