FWPD Officer James "Nabes" Nabors III, tells RefTime hosts: "The correlation between being a police officer and a referee is hand in hand. You deal with a lot of the same verbal things from people that we deal with and unfortunately, nowadays, it's getting physical for refs so you gotta know how to defend yourself. But the biggest things is knowing how to communicate...knowing how to talk to people. You can talk a lot of people off the ledge if you know what to say, when to say it, and how to say it.
