I'm honoured to sit down with Katie Kurtz, a specialist in the field of trauma-informed care. With over 15 years of experience as a licensed social worker and certified coach, Katie brings unparalleled expertise to the conversation. She’s not only a leading figure in trauma-informed training and consultation, but she also plays a pivotal role in shaping future leaders through her work as an Adjunct Professor and her involvement with Ohio’s Trauma-Informed Care Collaborative.

We dive deep into what trauma really means, exploring the nuances between being trauma-aware and trauma-informed. Katie also shares invaluable insights on how space holders—coaches, therapists, and other professionals—can care for themselves while supporting those dealing with trauma, especially in these politically charged times.

Katie eloquently explains how anti-racism and liberation work are intrinsically linked with trauma-informed care, providing a fresh perspective for those who may be hearing this connection for the first time.

For those of you who are already familiar with Katie's work, she’ll share more about her Trauma-Informed Leadership Studio membership—a transformative space that I’m proud to be a founding member of. And if you’ve ever wondered how you would show up in your work if fear wasn’t a factor, Katie offers some thought-provoking insights that might just change your approach.

This is a must-listen episode for anyone committed to holding space for others in a trauma-informed, inclusive, and compassionate way.
