The Coalition has voiced "serious concerns" about the federal government's announcement it will a recognise a state of Palestine in September at the United Nations General Assembly, following similar announcements made by the United Kingdom, France, and Canada.

In a joint statement, Opposition Leader Sussan Ley and Shadow Minister for Foreign Affairs Michaelia Cash say the government's decision "does not appear to make the world a safer place".
