Pat Dodson 'encouraged' by government comments on truth-telling process
Manage episode 485668806 series 5428
The federal government has now signalled it's open to considering a national truth-telling process.
Minister for Indigenous Australians Malarndirri McCarthy told the ABC yesterday that the government always said it remained committed to the principles of the Uluru Statement from the Heart, and has an opportunity now in a second term to consider new ways forward.
The comments come at the end of what's been a painful Reconciliation Week for many Indigenous communities, following the death in custody of an Aboriginal man with a disability in Alice Springs.
- Guest: Patrick Dodson, former Labor senator
- Producer: Jacqueline Breen
