Divorces are not only emotionally exhausting, they can be financially draining. Over the course of such a trying procedure, you need someone in your corner who can help you best hang on to your assets and money, and keep the process as quick and painless as possible. On this week’s show, Barbara interviews Carlie Berke, CDFA, CVA, who breaks down not only the valuable financial information you’ll need to know before getting divorced, but also, who you’ll need to consult at which stage of divorce proceedings, and the many case-by-case scenarios that she’s seen unfold in her long and accomplished career helping divorcees save their money.

Carlie Berke is the Founder of Your Money Advocate and is a Certified Divorce Financial Analyst (“CDFA”) and a Certified Valuation Analyst (“CVA”). Ms. Berke has worked on over 250 marital dissolution cases that were predominantly settled through alternative dispute resolution, in addition to providing expert witness testimony. Her experience in the field of marital dissolution includes business and asset valuation, income and expense analyses, separate property tracings, executive compensation and related equity awards, commercial and residential real estate economic analyses. She also has a unique background related to dividing alternative investment assets in marital dissolutions. Ms. Berke brings over 35 years of experience in finance with extensive expertise in valuation, financial modeling and budgeting and distilling and presenting complex financial analyses. She has structured and raised over $3 billion of equity and debt securities in both the public and private markets including IPO’s, corporate bonds, secured debt, structured finance, preferred stock, Master Limited Partnerships and has advised on a number of mergers and acquisitions. She managed $1.3 billion of commercial real estate assets for pension funds, institutional funds, family offices, endowments and foundations. Ms. Berke was named Vice President of Finance of a multi-billion dollar publicly traded REIT.
