In this episode, Marissa Lapadura, actor, comedian, creative, podcaster and mom of two, shares how she was scared as fuck to get on stage as a stand-up comedian, but she did it anyway. Once she came back home to herself and put the focus on her, her joy, her love for comedy, and her own journey, it became so much easier and so much more fun. This applies to anything in our lives that we are scared of doing. Marissa also teaches us how doing the things that fill you up and make you come alive benefit everyone around you, and most important of all, to love yourself enough to do what you love.

Take Aways

1. Laughter is healing, humor is alchemy

2. Anger can give you courage to do things you wouldn’t normally do

3. All you need are the 20 seconds of courage it takes to take the first step, the steps aren’t hard

4. Stop carrying things for other people. Put the focus on you and your journey instead of what everyone else thinks

5. Go inside and find your joy, when you are true to yourself it benefits everyone

6. When you dance with your fear instead of avoiding it, you will find empowerment, expansion, and peace on the other side

7. Come back home to yourself by doing the things that fill you up and make you come alive

8. Love yourself enough to do what you love, love yourself enough to be seen doing what you love

9. It’s ok to remove people from your life or limit contact with them if they trigger you or pull you down

10. Your messy humanness and your magnificence both belong here
