What is the evidence for evolution? Darwin was a keen and thoughtful observer of the things around him. Influenced by the mechanistic mindset of his time, Darwin sought to understand and explain the diversity of species and their traits through natural processes. This investigation led him to develop his concept of natural selection, which combined with a long-age time reference, became his theory of evolution.
