You guys, it's the last episode of this series and the last episode for the summer! We hate to see this series come to an end, but love ending it with some ways we can practically apply all we've learned into our daily lives. We hope you enjoy this episode, and would love your feedback! What topics or themes would you like to hear us discuss? Drop us a line and let us know!
Here are the practical application items we discussed in this episode:
MIV TRANSLATIONS
Jehovah Jireh: God saw to it that all He spoke to me over all these years came to pass. And all that hasn’t, just hasn’t YET. (Genesis 22:14)
Jehovah Nissi: God won this war, right here on this day. The victory is because of Him. (Exodus 17:15)
PRACTICAL APPLICATION
1. Start a Names of God journal. Even though we all have different ways we journal, I think having one specific for the names of God is a great way to intentionally acknowledge that we have seen God work in so many ways. Dedicate it to marking moments God clearly answers prayer, moves mightily, or other times you feel it’s important to pause and acknowledge this moment in time.
- What names are you ascribing to Him or would you have based on events in the past?
- Is it one from the existing list we see in the Bible?
- Or is it a new one, personal to just you?
2. Jireh: What are the I Will’s God has spoken to you in your life? What are the ones He has already answered and completed, and what are the ones you are still waiting for? Go ahead and make a list. Mark the ones where He brought it to pass and note the details of how He did it. This kind of reflection will do two things:
- It will help you remember that God has actively worked in your life in the past, and He still is, and He still will again.
- It will help you see the places where maybe He has brought an answer or resolution, but you just didn’t see it before.
3. Jireh: Where are you straddling the line of belief and unbelief, like Abraham might have when offering up Isaac? I think it’s important to be honest with ourselves about this—one, so we can see where our foundation needs to be shored up. Two, so we can open ourselves up to the possibility we heard wrong or misunderstood. Three, so we can have our eyes peeled in anticipation of when He might answer.
- Where are the places you need God to see you?
- Where are the places you’re waiting for God to see to it?
4. Nissi: Journal or make a list of the times you could build an altar and say The Lord is My Banner. What victories did He provide while you worked with him? We forget to build altars sometimes. Heck, sometimes we even forget to just say thank you. Go back and make a timeline of events and times when you knew without a doubt there would not have been victory had it not been for God’s help.
- Make a kind of altar/banner based on one that is most transformational for you
5. Do you think of God as your “Abba, Father?”
6. What would calling God “Abba” feel like to you?
7. Create a vision in your mind of what going to God in prayer would look like if you approached him as “Abba, Father”. And then when you go to prayer to Him with a posture that He is your Papa, use this vision to help the senses come alive for y
