A mediator, a plaintiffs lawyer, a defense lawyer and a wannabe podcaster walk into a bar…while that sounds like a great start to a joke, it is episode 129 of Sports ‘N Torts. Each with their musical instruments as members of their band Better By Daylight, it was so awesome having Joe Murphey (on the drums), Bobby Johnson (on bass guitar) and Sam Britt (singing and on guitar) join the podcast this week. Each are lawyers in Atlanta, and they are in a music band together. We start the podcast with them putting on a live concert (they are absolutely awesome) for us and enjoy listening to them play.

We then discuss:

-how the band came together;

-gigs and venues they play;

-importance of getting along with your fellow lawyers on the opposite side of the case (and even joining a band with them);

-professionalism in the legal community;

-their legal practices;

-using music as a way of charitable giving through their practices;

-importance of hobbies outside of work;

-Joe’s view on mediation;

-types of music that inspired them;

-Atlanta United soccer;

-UGA’s loss to Ole Miss;

-Updated thoughts on 12 team college football playoff.

And a whole bunch more.

Enjoy this unique episode and special thanks to my dad, Stanley Stein, for hosting us in his music room – the acoustics were great!
