Kahlil Gibran- You give but little when you give of your possessions. It is when you give of yourself that you truly give.

Welcome to The Daily Quote — a podcast designed to kickstart your day in a positive way. I'm your host, Andrew McGivern, for July 15th.
Today is National Give Something Away Day, which might sound like a cue to finally part ways with that “vintage” treadmill doubling as a coat rack. But beyond the spring cleaning vibes, this day is really about generosity — about shifting the spotlight off what you have, and onto what you can offer.
That brings me to today’s quote, from the ever-wise Kahlil Gibran - Lebanese-American poet, writer and philosopher who once said:
“You give but little when you give of your possessions. It is when you give of yourself that you truly give.”
Now that’s a line that cuts right to the heart, doesn’t it?
Sure, giving away an old pair of jeans or an extra coffee mug is a good start — and let’s be honest, your kitchen could use the breathing room. But the real power of giving isn’t found in stuff. It’s found in showing up. In sharing your time, your patience, your attention — especially when it would be easier not to.
Gibran reminds you that the most meaningful gifts are often the most invisible: a call to someone who needs to talk, a helping hand when no one’s watching, or a smile that lifts someone else’s mood. Those are the kinds of gifts that don’t end up in a donation bin — but they absolutely end up in someone’s heart.
So today, give something away — yes, even if it’s just that third phone charger you didn’t realize you had. But don’t stop there. Give a little of you. That’s where the magic happens.
If this quote sparked something in you, consider giving it away too. Share it from your podcast app your using right now with a friend. Or you can leave a comment if you use an app like Good Pods or Spotify that supports comments.
That's it for now. But I’ll be back tomorrow - same pod time, same pod station with another Daily Quote.
