Adnan discusses a new book, The New Racial Regime, Recalibrations of White Supremacy, (Pluto, 2025) with its author Alana Lentin. This important study builds upon Cedric Robinson’s crucial framework to investigate the mechanisms by which neoliberal capitalist societies of Europe and its settler colonies renew racist orderings of society through interlocking discourses and practices that adjust to the collapse of previous structures due to resistance. Alana analyzes responses to critical race theory and its limits, techniques of white forgetting in mobilizing history in “reconciliation” processes, and most profoundly the various adjustments Zionism recalibrates itself as Indigenous and sponsors “anti-antisemitism” during the genocide. A powerful conversation based on a brilliant and very significant new conceptual analysis of the transformations of racial capitalism.
