Welcome to our podcast Hearts & Histories, hosted by Ryan Kennedy and brought to you by the Shropshire Rainbow Film Festival and EMBRACE A Culture of Inclusion.

During this five episode series, older and old LGBT+ people who live in Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin reflect on how their lives and experiences have made them the person they are today.

This episode’s guest is Betty Halford. Betty is 95 years old, having been born in 1929. She lives in Shrewsbury, and identifies as lesbian.

She shares memories of unexpectedly falling in love with a woman in her fifties; being involved in the Greenham Common Women’s Peace Camp; and then latterly becoming one of the founding members of SAND.
