Dr Amy McQuire is a Darumbal and South Sea Islander scholar from Rockhampton in Central Queensland. She is a Senior Lecturer at the Carumba Institute and has worked as a journalist in Aboriginal and independent media.
Dr. McQuire's work focuses on the representation of Aboriginal communities and violence against Aboriginal women, men and children in the Australian mainstream media. In this conversation, we learn more about the Aboriginal peoples' experiences in her homeland, state-sanctioned violence against Aboriginal communities, and how that intersects with colonialism, racism, and white supremacy.
