The Red Sox (40-40) lost their 3rd straight game with a 9-5 setback to the Los Angeles Angels in the series opener Monday night at Angel Stadium in Anaheim, CA. The Angels scored 5 in the 1st Inning and 4 more runs in the 8th Inning. The Red Sox are now at .500 for the 15th time this season. Red Sox pitchers issued a season-high 11 walks in the loss.

Sox at the Dish: The Sox put together 5 straight singles in the Top of the 1st Inning and plated 3 runs. Connor Wong picked up his 1st RBI of the season with a Sacrifice Fly in the 4th Inning and that brought the Red Sox to within a run. Trevor Story tied the game at 5-5 with a solo Home Run in the 6th, his 11th. . The Sox are now (10-1) when Story homers this season. The Red Sox left the bases loaded in the 7th when reliever Reid Detmers struck out Roman Anthony and Story to get out of the jam. Marcelo Mayer went 0-for-4 with 2 strikeouts and is 2-for-29 over his last 10 Games.

Buehler on the Bump: Walker Buehler was staked to an early 3-0 lead, but that lead disappeared instantly with Buehler giving up 5 runs in the Bottom of the 1st Inning. He gave up a Home Run to the leadoff hitter Zach Neto on the 1st pitch that he threw. Buehler faced 11 hitters total (39 P) and gave up 2 hits, 4 walks, and he hit 2 batters during the inning. Buehler left the bases loaded in the 1st and again in his final inning in the 4th. He ended up being taken off the hook for the loss and ended up with a no-decision. He walked a career-high 7 walks in the outing. Buehler over his last 22 Innings has allowed 28 runs (26 ER).

The Red Sox are now 1-5 over last 6 Starts.
