The Red Sox (29-33) returned to Fenway Monday night and dropped the opener, 7-6, against the Los Angeles Angels. The Red Sox were down 6-0 after the 1st inning and got to within a run twice but could not tie or go in front against the Angels, who hit 4 Home Runs in the opener. The 4 Home Runs allowed tied a season-high allowed by the Red Sox pitching staff (4 HR allowed in 16-1 road loss to the Rays on April 14).

Later in the inning, Mike Trout added a 3-run Home Run and Jo Adell added another solo shot to cap the 6-run 1st. The Red Sox are now (0-8) in his 1st 8 Big League starts. 9-23 10+ K. 20-10 when they have less than 10.

He had his 2nd Double of the night in the Red Sox 4-run 4th Inning. It's Duran's 4th game this season with multiple extra-base hits. He had 17 in 2024.

-----

#'s of the Day: Fitts short outing was the 16th time in the last 26 Games where a Red Sox starting pitcher failed to go more than 5 Innings. It's the 9th time this season where a Red Sox starting pitcher has allowed 5 or more earned runs. Mike Trout's 1st-Inning Home Run was the 388th of his career, his 14th career Home Run against the Red Sox and just his 2nd at Fenway Park.

-----

Roster Moves- The Red Sox made several roster moves prior to Sunday's series finale in Atlanta. Reliever Justin Slaten was placed on the IL with right shoulder inflammation. Luis Guerrero was brought back up from Triple-A Worcester. Slaten told the media that he's dealing with fatigue and doesn't think it's anything serious. Slaten and Liam Hendriks have both gone on the IL over the last 3 days. Nate Spears was added to the 40-man roster and promoted from Triple-A Worcester. Blake Sabon was designated for assignment to make room for Spears on the 40-man roster. Nick Sogard was also sent down to Worcester.

-----

What's On Tap?: The Angels and Sox continue their series Tuesday night at Fenway. Brayan Bello goes in Game 2 for the Sox and Lucas Giolito is slated to go in the finale Wednesday afternoon. The Red Sox and Yankees will open up their 1st series of the season Friday night in the Bronx.
