Jesus calls us to be the salt of the earth and the light of the world. In Matthew 5:13-16, Jesus reminds His followers of their God-given identity and purpose as redeemed children of God. He calls them the "salt of the earth," preserving the truth of God’s Word in a world prone to decay, and the "light of the world," reflecting the light of Christ through their lives.
