In this powerful teaching, Leah explores what true greatness looks like in the Divine Kin-dom, contrasting it with the domination and hierarchy of empire. Drawing from the gospel of Mark, she unpacks two parallel stories where Jesus flips the script on greatness, calling his followers to service, humility, and care for the most vulnerable. She then weaves in the historical legacies of Nelson Mandela and Desmond Tutu, who rejected retribution in post-apartheid South Africa and instead modeled truth, reconciliation, and the African value of ubuntu: “I am because we are.” Their commitment to restorative justice echoes Jesus’ call to break down the hierarchies that divide us. Leah challenges us to dismantle the social ladders in our own communities and build a world rooted in love, connection, and Divine kinship. Greatness in the Kin-dom, she reminds us, looks like shared humanity and mutual service.
