World War 2 was a dark chapter in Singapore's history and so when the Japanese eventually surrendered, spirits were high amongst the residents. But did you know that there was a probability that the Japanese in Singapore would refuse to surrender despite the Emperor's announcement? Operation Tiderace was the Allied Forces' plan to secure Singapore and claim it back for the British. Check out this action-packed episode to learn about:

  • the original Operation Zipper that was meant to execute an airstrike on the Japanese in Singapore
  • the variety of ways the Japanese tried to escape humiliation in defeat, including a depressing sake party
  • the pompous official ceremony that the Allied Forces conducted for the Japanese to sign their instruments of surrender
