Tabatha Jones is the CEO of Empowered Leadership Coaching, a Career Advancement & Leadership Coach, author. With 20+ years of leadership experience, she took the leap from corporate America into coaching at the age of 50 where she now helps ambitious women break through career barriers, build unshakable confidence, and secure promotions faster. Her clients achieve leadership success by developing strategic career plans, elevating their visibility, and positioning themselves as top candidates for advancement. She specializes in working with gen-x women who are done playing small and want to make the next years the best of their career!

Tabatha's Notes from the Sidelines:

  1. Are you sidelining yourself by not taking action, driving your career, or advocating for yourself? Can you try saying, "Here are some of my accomplishments and why I'm ready and suitable for the job"?
  2. As women, we let people tell us who we are and what we bring.
  3. If you aren't feeling well -- migraines, insomnia, fatigue -- go to your doctor. And if your PCP isn't helpful, see a naturopath.
  4. "You're not a tree, you can move." And even if you are a tree, you can be dug up and transplanted elsewhere. YOU AREN'T STUCK! Even money doesn't have to hold you back. Make little changes.
  5. Women have to get out of their own way and be better about talking up their value and what we bring to the world.
  6. Set SMART goals for career and life. SMART stands for specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound.
  7. To build the confidence to advocate for yourself, start writing down things you're most proud of, so you can see your impact. There are so many things we do that we forget because we have lost our confidence along the way.
  8. Journaling helps get negative thoughts out of your head. Ask yourself, "Is this true?" Most of the stuff we tell ourselves isn't; they are just things we heard at some point and decided to believe.
  9. See yourself through other people's eyes. Ask trusted friends, "How do you see me? What is the most impactful thing I've done for you? What is something you believe I should be proud of?"
  10. Women have a hard time accepting compliments -- just say thank you and sit with it.
  11. PROGRESS OVER PERFECTION. PERFECTION KEEPS YOU IN PLACE.
  12. Comparison is the thief of joy.
  13. Women need to start owning their power when it comes to protecting their time.
