She also founded the Entrepreneurial Spirit Fund by SIA Scotch, which has provided over $350,000 in grants to underserved entrepreneurs. Today, Carin is dedicated to making Hot or Just Me? the go-to resource for women during perimenopause and menopause addressing key symptoms such as Hot Flashes + Night Sweats, Irregular + Heavy Periods, Brain Fog, Mood Changes + Irritability, Vaginal Dryness + Low Libido, Urinary Incontinence, Insomnia + Fatigue, Hair + Skin Changes.
Carin's Notes from the Sidelines:
- Hot flashes, night sweats, unpredictable periods, brain fog, heart palpitations, anxiety, hair loss, insomnia, vaginal dryness, body aches, decreased libido, and weight gain are common perimenopause symptoms. What can you do besides HRT?
- Let's normalize feeling DISENCHANTED, especially with midlife life changes.
- Imposter syndrome is normal. Claim to be the expert and be okay with the discomfort.
- Many women were raised with messages like, "Suck it up. Power through it. Make our sacrifice worth it."
- Midlife is the era of "zero f*cks to give," being done with the BS, and honoring the fire in your belly.
- The world is full of possibility. What do you want to spend your time doing?
- Talk to yourself like you're talking to a best friend.
- Optimize your sleep, because sleeps affects everything: brain fog, concentration, ability to make good food choices, whether you exercise, interest in sex. Improve sleep with: cooling sheets, supportive sleepwear, adjusting temperature, eye mask, ear plugs, layer clothing, and Carin's cooling bracelet.
- Doctors receive very little hormone and menopause training. Don't assume they know everything about your body. Check menopause.org website.
- ADVOCATE FOR YOURSELF.
- You are not alone. Talk openly with friends and family. Give yourself compassion.
