Hilda Gan returns to #smalltalk. This time, my conversation with Hilda focuses on "legalized cannabis in the workplace" and how it can impact the policies, culture, and interaction between employers and employees. If you're an entrepreneur, this conversation is relevant to you too. This is a special conversation for any and all #HRprofessionals. "Every company needs to create policies to balance what I'll call safety and the duty to accommodate. If a person has medical problems, you have to accommodate them. People still have to come to work and perform effectively. So, a person cannot come to work and drink alcohol and perform ineffectively. Similarly if a person is on cannabis, they have to perform to the best of their duties. So, as employers you still can comment on people and expect them to perform effectively. We're talking about a potentially contentious and key topic of "legalized cannabis in the workplace"
