Such a treat to welcome as a guest Les Bohem, an Emmy-winning screenwriter whose credits include THE ALAMO, A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET: THE DREAM CHILD, as well as some of the biggest disaster movies of the 1990’s - like DANTE'S PEAK and DAYLIGHT, starring Sylvester Stallone. Today’s conversation was recorded to mark the 25th anniversary of DAYLIGHT, and in the episode Les explains how DAYLIGHT was inspired by disaster movies of the 1970s like TOWERING INFERNO and EARTHQUAKE. We discuss the ‘spec boom’ of the late 80s / early 90s, and the events that led to Les selling his screenplay for DAYLIGHT; also, Les’ emotional experience picking up a script his late father wrote in 1935 and completing it nearly 60 years later, turning it into the movie TWENTY BUCKS, starring Brendan Fraser and Steve Buscemi. All of this… and much more! **Before our main conversation, we briefly welcome on the show award-winning actor Colin Fox, who starred in the leading ensemble cast of DAYLIGHT with Stallone, and who shares anecdotes from making the film on the Cinecittà backlots in Rome.** Make sure you subscribe to Soundstage Access on your favorite podcast platform so you can share your favorite episodes with your friends.
