Besides being engines of growth, corporations and their founders have long played a role in addressing pertinent social issues of their time. India is set to become one of the world’s leading producers of wealth, and with this has come renewed scrutiny of the role of businesses and their promoters. The adoption of legislation making CSR spending mandatory has also provided both new impetus and new challenges. This roundtable brings together business leaders, practitioners and academics to discuss the business of philanthropy. This discussion marks the launch of Revealing Indian Philanthropy, a new book co-edited by UBS and the India Observatory at the London School of Economics with contributions from leading Indian philanthropists.
