Surf's up, wave riders! Buckle up for a wild coastal forecast that's about to drop like a set of epic swells.
Today's ocean playground stretches from Malibu to San Luis Obispo, and Mother Nature's serving up some serious wave action. We're looking at a high-risk rip current situation that demands your full respect and attention.
Malibu and Los Angeles County beaches are cranking out 3 to 5-foot swells with south-facing beaches stealing the show. Water temps are sitting sweet between 66 and 70 degrees - perfect for that summer surf session. Tides will dance between a low of -0.7 feet and a high of 6.1 feet, creating some dynamic water conditions.
Ventura County's coastline mirrors the LA scene with similar swell heights and a mixed south and west swell pattern. Water's a touch cooler here, hovering around 60 to 65 degrees.
For our Santa Barbara surfers, things are a bit more mellow. Today brings 1 to 3-foot waves with a low rip current risk, ramping up to moderate conditions on Monday. Expect 2 to 4-foot swells on south-facing beaches.
The real wave monsters are hanging out up north in San Luis Obispo, where 3 to 6-foot swells today will crescendo to 4 to 7-foot waves tomorrow. Water's chillier up there at 53 to 55 degrees, so grab that wetsuit.
Across all zones, one thing's consistent: a mixed south and west swell that's promising some serious ride potential. No thunderstorms in the forecast, just pure oceanic energy.
Bottom line: High rip current risk means stay alert, know your limits, and respect the ocean. Surf smart, stay safe, and catch those waves!
