Surf's up, wave riders! Get ready for a gnarly weekend along the California coast. If you're planning to catch some waves, buckle up for some seriously mixed conditions.
Let's break it down by region. Malibu and LA County beaches are looking at a moderate rip current risk with surf heights cruising between 2 to 4 feet. Water temps are sitting pretty at 59 to 64 degrees - not too shabby for a weekend splash.
Ventura County is where things get spicy. We're talking a high rip current risk with surf heights pumping 3 to 5 feet. The swell is mixing northwest and south vibes, so experienced riders will want to bring their A-game. Water's hovering around 60 to 65 degrees - perfect for a wetsuit session.
Heading north to Santa Barbara, conditions are more mellow. Surf's keeping it chill at 1 to 3 feet with a low rip current risk. Water's a bit cooler at around 56 degrees, so maybe save the boardshorts for another day.
San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara Central Coast beaches are serving up the most serious waves. We're looking at 4 to 7 feet today, scaling up to 5 to 8 feet tomorrow. Mixed swells mean unpredictable conditions, so only seasoned surfers should paddle out. Water temps are on the chillier side at 51 to 53 degrees.
No thunderstorms in the forecast, but those rip currents are no joke. Stay alert, know your limits, and always respect the ocean. Catch you on the waves!
