Surf's up, coastal riders! Let's break down the wave action along Southern California's stunning coastline.
From Malibu to Santa Barbara, we're looking at a solid day of surfing with some nuanced conditions. The Malibu and Los Angeles County beaches are serving up a moderate rip current risk, so stay alert. Expect waves between 2 to 4 feet with a delicious mixed west and south swell combo. Water temperatures are hovering around a crisp 63 to 66 degrees - wetsuit recommended.
Ventura County is riding the same wave, matching Malibu's conditions almost perfectly. Moderate rip current potential means you'll want to keep your surf skills sharp and stay aware of changing water dynamics.
Santa Barbara's southwestern and southeastern coasts are presenting a mellower scene. Lower rip current risk and slightly smaller 1 to 3 foot waves make this a more beginner-friendly zone. Water's warming up nicely at 65 to 67 degrees.
For the hardcore wave hunters, San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara Central Coast beaches are pumping out some serious 3 to 6 foot swells. South swell dominates today, promising some epic rides. Just note the water's significantly cooler here at 51 to 53 degrees - full wetsuit and booties are your friends.
Tides are doing their dance throughout the day, with low points ranging from -1.1 to -1.6 feet and high tides climbing to 6.2 feet. No thunderstorm threats mean clean, consistent conditions.
Stay safe, read the water, and enjoy the ride!
