I’m sitting down with JGAA junior golfer Ashley Shaw and her mom, Sylvia, to look back on Ashley’s remarkable journey from local competitions to the LPGA Founders Cup!
Ashley recalls the moment she found herself leading the scoreboard during the tour, completely unaware of her live-scored triumph. Sylvia opens up about the emotional rollercoaster of caddying for her daughter, painting a picture of her unforgettable experience of watching Ashley claim her place among the pros.
We also take a closer look at what distinguishes professional golfers from amateurs, from course management to club selection. Ashley discusses her mental approach to handling pressure while Sylvia shares her newfound caddying insights and the unique pressures of different competitive formats.
Finally, Ashley gives us a look behind the curtain at her athletic upbringing, her multi-sport talents, and the tight-knit family dynamic that was (and still is) essential to her success.
