E14- Andrew Lamprill: From TFL Glory to AFL Grit and a Life in Coaching
Manage episode 494518904 series 3658248
Andrew Lamprill’s footy journey is the stuff of Tassie footy legend, tough, tested, and full of transformation.
After tasting premiership success with the powerhouse 1990 Hobart TFL team, he was snapped up by Melbourne in the AFL draft, bringing his talent and tenacity to the big stage.
A spectacular first goal with his first AFL kick hinted at big things to come, but injuries would cruelly interrupt his momentum.
Despite setbacks, Lamprill carved out a respected AFL career, particularly in defence, before turning his focus to coaching — from Vermont in Victoria to Hobart and now leading the Hutchins Old Boys in Tassie’s Old Scholars league.
Add to that his standout showing at the 2008 Masters Carnival in Darwin — where he earned All Australian honours — and you’ve got a bloke who’s truly lived and breathed every side of the game.
