Mike Capeness is the Lab Manager for Professor Louise Horsfall’s lab in the School of Biological Sciences at the University of Edinburgh. With a background in microbiology and a career that began as a trainee technician at the University of Nottingham, Mike has built up a wide range of experience in lab management, health and safety, training, purchasing, sustainability, and research. He has a strong interest in the varied nature of technical careers and in promoting technician visibility and recognition. Mike recently won a College of Science and Engineering Staff Recognition Award in the Sustainability category for his work leading greener lab practices and sharing best practice across the community. In the 6th Episode of Technically Edinburgh we are joined by Marta Esquiva Diaz, a research technician in the Baker lab in Cardiovascular Sciences (CVS) in the Queens Medical Research Institute.
