Ford marking Bronco's 60th anniversary
Manage episode 499985759 series 3128428
Techstination, your destination for gadgets and gear. I’m Fred Fishkin. Ford is marking the 60th anniversary of the Bronco this month. It followed the Mustang out of the stable in 1965. Ford Heritage and Brand Manager Ted Ryan says it was the birth of the descriptive term sport utility vehicle. What helped to set it apart?
“While many of the veterans who came back from World War II enjoyed the nostalgia of the Jeep, they don’t like the bumps of the Jeep. So we designed a vehicle in the Bronco that was great for on road and off-road. And our very first ad showed a woman pulling up into a grocery store in her Bronco showing its versatility as an on road and off road vehicle.”
After a 25 year hiatus Ford brought back the Bronco four years ago….and to celebrate the milestone this year…there’s a 2026 Anniversary Edition. For more history…check out FordHeritageVault.com.
