The California Community College system is the largest system of higher education in the United States, comprising 115 colleges across 72 districts.

One of the biggest advantages of the California Community College system is its #affordability. Historically, CCCs were tuition-free, and while that has changed over time, they remain one of the most cost-effective options for higher education in the U.S.

For California residents, tuition is $46 per unit. This means that a typical three-unit course costs under $150. Even if a student were required to pay out-of-pocket, the cost remains significantly lower compared to other higher education institutions.

However, most students do not pay tuition at all. Around 80% to 90% of students qualify for financial aid, making their education completely free. The goal is to ensure that students take full advantage of available grants and tuition waivers to minimize or eliminate costs.
