Robert Guffey joins AP in this episode for a lengthy and mind-bending chat that covers a lot of weird ground. Robert is a well-known writer and author of both fiction and non-fiction, and in this chat the difficulty in telling the difference between the two is well illustrated. One of his books, Chameleo, is discussed at length- in particular, how much of what seemed fantastic or crazy in it when it was released ten years ago now seems eerily prescient.
In addition, Robert discusses his newest book, The Expectant Mother Disinformation Handbook, and his short stories from Cryptopolis; science fiction and how it overlaps with secret government projects; how stories are told in media broadly about weird and paranoid subject matter; all this and more!

Check out Robert's site here: http://cryptoscatology.com/

This week on the show writer, strategist, and founder of The Emperor Norton Trust John Lumea joins AP for an in-depth discussion about an obscure but fascinating historical figure- that of Joshua Abraham Norton, the self-proclaimed Emperor of the United States and Protector of Mexico. What began as a campaign on John's part to recognize the Emperor's association with the San Francisco Bay Bridge turned into the current Trust, which seeks to honor the legacy of Norton I through archival materials, advocacy, and John's writings about the man. Norton's impact in the latter part of the 19th century extended far beyond San Francisco and his time, showing the power of eccentricity and force of will to carry one's beliefs and ideas into reality. In the interview, John gets into the history of Emperor Norton as well as his ideology, which was surprisingly progressive for his time. In the process, he pushes back on some common misconceptions about the Emperor, painting a picture of a benevolent monarch and poignant, albeit unconventional, thinker. Also discussed are the Emperor's spiritual life, his role as a Discordian saint, and how we can apply the Nortonian ideal in today's age. Keep up with John at The Emperor Norton Trust here: https://emperornortontrust.org/…

This week Bradley Plaisier and Robert Skvarla join AP to talk about the classic 90s phenomena that was The X-Files, but more specifically, the episodes written by Darin Morgan. Fans of the TV series know Morgan for his humor and absurdity in stories such as Jose Chung's From Outer Space and War of the Coprophages, "monster of the week" episodes that add levity to the show while at the same time raising important and thought-provoking questions. While he wrote significantly less episodes for the show, the ones he came up with were all instant classics; just as memorable were his appearances onscreen in the episodes Host and Small Potatoes. In addition to a brief but powerful list of writing credits, Morgan also rarely gave interviews. In this discussion a 1996 interview with Cinefantastique is relied upon heavily, bringing insights into the writing behind his first full episode, Humbug, and his most celebrated (and award winning) script for Clyde Bruckman's Final Repose. Bradley and Robert bring their unique perspectives as researchers of the paranormal and conspiracy theory material to what became a wide-ranging discussion about high strangeness, media, perception management, manipulation, and so much more. Robert is a freelance writer and can be found on X @robertskvarla, where you can also find Bradley @bpleasies. Check out Bradley's t-shirt shop as well, which has many great and often obscure paranormal designs to choose from at https://bwp.threadless.com/ Discussed as well are the two episodes from the 11th season of the show, as well as Morgan's writing for the spinoff show Millenium. This brings the conversation into some unexpected places, with discussions about the Mandela Effect, Flat Earth, and even Phantom Clowns!…

This week's show is another Third Time's the Charm (3xtC) installment with J. R. Hikel joining AP to talk about one of the greatest movies of all time- Army of Darkness! J. R. is a small business owner and a lifelong horror fan, and runs J. R.'s Spooky Shack in Hudson, Massachusetts- a one-stop shop for all manner of horror merchandise. He brings his wealth of knowledge and inimitable sense of humor to a fun discussion with AP about this movie, the Evil Dead franchise more broadly, and an unexpected but welcome allusion to The Three Stooges! Also discussed are the many talents and the legacy of Bruce Campbell, Sam Raimi's filmography, and other horror notables involved in Army of Darkness which may have escaped your notice. It was a fun episode and a wonderful excuse to geek out about the movie as well as the other Evil Dead properties- and even the most primitive of screwheads will be able to enjoy it! Find J. R.'s shop here: https://www.jrsspookyshack.com/ And follow him on instagram @jrsspookyshack…

This week Gabriel Kennedy, aka Prop-Anon, drops in to discuss his book Chapel Perilous: The Life and Thought Crimes of Robert Anton Wilson! This first, and currently only biography of RAW was several years in the making for Gabriel. In this conversation, he and AP discuss how he came to discover Wilson's work, the influences its had on Kennedy as a creative and a person, and much more! Gabriel is a musician and a writer, as well as a student of Wilson's Maybe Logic Academy. In this wide ranging chat, he and AP discuss everything from the Illuminati's tendrils within hip hop, to influences on RAW from Crowley to Reich to Korzybski, to high strangeness events with UFOs and synchronicities. They talk about Kennedy's personal interactions with Wilson, including at the infamous Disinfo Con- as well as some discussion about interviews and research that went into writing the definitive life story of Bob Wilson. Get a copy of Chapel Perilous wherever you buy your books, and keep up with Prop on his substack here: https://substack.com/@gabrielkennedyakapropanon…

AP welcomes folklorist and writer Paul A. T. Wilson to the show to discuss the fantastically weird case of Sam, the Sandown Clown- an entity reportedly encountered on the Isle of Wight in the early 1970s by a pair of young children. Listeners familiar with the story will undoubtedly be thrilled to learn that further encounters with the entity variously called the Ghost Clown or All Colours Sam have come to light. Through Paul's work in finding and interviewing "Fey", the young girl in the original story, he has documented her several later meetings with Sam and shared them in a series of presentations for the first time. In this conversation, Wilson discusses these later meetings with the motley being, how he came to uncover them, and the nature of storytelling and reporting weird tales. Paul lives on the Isle of Wight and has a background in pre-medieval history there, as well as with writing and sharing tales of wonder related to the island. He talks about his longtime fascination with the Sandown Clown story, which has for decades been frustratingly limited in scope. In uncovering these further stories from the anonymous witness, new dimensions to the legend of Sam are brought to light which raise a panoply of new and exciting questions. Also discussed is the importance of honoring stories and the people who tell them, and respecting their wishes in regard to anonymity. He and AP also talk a bit about the island itself, and its enchanted history with dragons, mystery fogs, and more! Check out Paul's work on Isle of Wight folklore here: https://www.wihtlore.uk/…

This week, cartoonist and ultimate Creative Weirdo Todd Purse joins AP for an inspiring and fun conversation about art, imagination, and the power of bringing ideas to life on the page. Todd makes his living, as he says, by "drawing pictures on coffee bags"- but he also consistently produces whimsical and positive paranormal themed art which he shares on instagram (@toddde85), and publishes zines and prints of his work as well. In conversation, AP and Todd get into some of his early influences, talk about the wonderful medium of comic books and comic strips, and the intersection of paranormal concepts and the creative process. This lends itself to a lot of geeking out about everything from Calvin and Hobbes to the Loch Ness Monster, from Star Wars to Mothman, and the various trickster masks of the Kentucky Goblins. Other themes explored include parenting, the timelessness of some forms of media, humor, and underlying faith in humanity despite the horrors of the world. Todd also contributes to the comic book adaptation of Illuminatus! , which was discussed in episode 28- Hailing Discordia with Bobby Campbell- and is the artist behind Welcome UFO People , a collaboration with Rob Kristofferson of Our Strange Skies fame. Todd is always a pleasure to talk to or hear in conversation- and his work is highly recommended! Check it out here: https://www.createmagicstudios.com/…

Michael M. Hughes joins AP this week to discuss the proliferation of AI technology and the impact it's having on every aspect of society. Michael is an author, a journalist, a tarot reader, and teacher, and his recent writings include a "Humanifesto" which promotes biological intelligence and resists the artifice being sold to us by the tech industry. In both his written work- regularly updated to reflect new insights- and in conversation here, the necessity of so-called AI applications is called into question, leveraged against the very real harms it causes in the human psyche and to the environment. From AI slop to plagiarism issues, broligarchs and enshittification, and what Hughes refers to as the "coprophagic ouroboros", the facade of the allegedly monumental shift in tech- not to mention the economic bubble it creates- is revealed for what it is. The conversation is far from being all doom and gloom, though, with plenty of laughs and some uplifting suggestions about how to gently work one's way back to creating, living life, and connecting with the beauty of art, literature, and community. Read MIchael's humanifesto here: https://medium.com/@michaelmhughes/kill-the-robots-7bad904e3c9e and check out his website here: https://www.michaelmhughes.com/…

For this week's Third Time's the Charm (3xtC) presentation, Icy Sedgwick joins AP to venture into the realm of found footage horror movies with a look at Paranormal Activity 3. As it happens, Icy was the perfect guest to have on for this subject, as she has an honest-to-goodness doctorate in horror movies and used the Paranormal Activity series for her Ph D! In this discussion, she and AP get into the benefits and drawbacks of found footage as a genre, what it says about our perception of paranormal events, and even some of the folklore and tropes that pervade these narratives. Icy is also a former ghost hunter, a folklorist, and a dark fantasy writer- and these rarified talents and experiences lend themselves well to discussions around the paranormal in both fictional and allegedly true accounts... and everything in-between. The conversation covers everything from how ghosts and demons are portrayed in media, the differences in these portrayals in British and American productions, and the ways in which horror narratives mirror the popular consciousness more readily than other forms of fiction. They also briefly discuss Icy's book, Rebel Folklore , which is available for purchase on Amazon. She also hosts the wonderful podcast Fabulous Folklore, which you can check out here: https://pod.co/fabulous-folklore-with-icy And for her writings and other works go here: https://www.icysedgwick.com/…

This week AP sits down to talk flying saucers with UFO buff, author, playwright, and blogger Charles Lear! Charles is the author of The Flying Saucer Investigators , a book detailing the early history around the personalities who made UFOs a cultural phenomenon. It serves as an excellent primer on the origins of modern UFOlogy, following the storied paths of people like Jim Moseley, Ray Palmer, John Keel, and others- with a lot of classic cases covered as well! Charles and AP dig into some of the particulars, and the circular nature of the UFO narrative down through the decades. Along the way, they run afoul of the MiB and share some laughs over the absurdity of it all. They also discuss Charles' second book, Crashed Saucers and Malevolent Aliens: The Emergence of the Popular Modern UFO Mythos in the Late 20th Century , and his work blogging for Podcast UFO. There's even a ghost story or two! Check out Charles Lear's books on Amazon and his work for Podcast UFO here: https://podcastufo.com/…

This week, AP sits down with filmmaker and artist Tess Martin to discuss her recent works, and what they have to say about time, memory, and meaning. Tess is a visual artist based in Rotterdam, the Netherlands with a background in classical fine art and animation, and her films are a unique marriage of the two disciplines that get to the heart of the bigger questions in our perceptions of the world and our place within it. In particular, they discuss her film currently being exhibited, Still Life with Woman, Tea, and Letter, and an earlier work called 1976 - Search for Life . Both films use animation of photographs within settings in a way that pulls moments out of time, in a profound and moving way. In talking about these works, AP and Tess discuss the nature of time, how limited our concepts of it tend to be, and how through art and creative endeavors one might gain mastery over it. It was a fascinating conversation which will leave the listener with much to think about! Check out Tess Martin's wonderful art here: https://www.tessmartinart.com/…

Steve Mills, aka the Reverend StarDoG, returns to the show this week to discuss the festival scene throughout the U.K. in the 1970s into the 1980s. Steve had previously been on for a Third Time's the Charm episode to discuss Halloween III, but this time he and AP get into the music, culture, and adjacent wyrdshit of the free festival movement he was part of. Starting with a bit of history in the early 70s, they discuss a festival in the Queen's backyard, the infamous Wallys of Wessex court trial, the concerts at Stonehenge, the Battle of the Bean field, and more- including the social and political implications of the hippie caravan lifestyle and its portrayal in popular media of the time. Groups such as the Dwarves, Hawkwind, and the Pink Fairies provided anthemic soundtracks to the scene, and Steve makes a case for these festivals as being a template for later events such as Burning Man. He also talks about his band Tubilah DoG, opening for Hawkwind, playing onstage whilst "off his tits", and various ways the music industry is a thing apart from the creative forces it depends on. Of course, it wouldn't be a whibble with StarDog if the conversation didn't involve the influence of Discordianism and the wyrdshit that attends it- including possible time slips, mystery fogs, and UFOs. It was a wild conversation. If you'd like to hear the DoGs' 1996 album, In Search of Plaice, check it out here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dPXLWky7d9s…

This week AP has a chat with his old friend Michelle Elmquist about The Simpsons- its cultural impact, the weirdness involved in some of the episodes, and how the early seasons captured a particular essence of the 1990s. Michelle had been the host of The Eternal Void, But With Jazz podcast for which AP was sometimes a guest host or cohost. The current show now owes much to Michelle in getting AP into podcasting! They discuss themes of the ufological, cryptozoological, and conspiratorial within the first ten or so seasons of the classic show, how much people of a certain age are mentally wired by Simpsons references, and also explore some of the alleged predictions of future events that occurred in the series. It was a fun conversation, full of heart and laughs. "A noble spirit embiggens the smallest man."…

On this week's show, the documentary series Strange Magick is discussed with director Bill Darmon and researcher and author Dave Goudsward. The film explores the connections between sites in New England, the odd connections between the magic of places and larger-than-life figures such as Aleister Crowley and H. P. Lovecraft, and even espionage during World War I. In this conversation the focus is more specifically on Lovecraft and his likely connections to Mystery Hill, also known as "America's Stonehenge" in Salem, New Hampshire. Dave had been the manager at the site, and is also a historian of Lovecraft's life and works- in addition to also being a very fun guy to talk to! Bill and Dave get into Lovecraft's travels and possible romantic entanglements with a less well remembered writer named Myrna Little, and how these elements informed his weird fiction. The pitch for the film, per Bill, goes like this: Aleister Crowley. Howard Phillips Lovecraft. New Hampshire. While they never met, new independent research has turned up intriguing connections between these two giants of the occult and a mysterious third party, a Radcliffe graduate who factors prominently in both of their writings- was it the same woman? Could she have been their connection to strange stone sites linked to a German plot during World War I? Strange Magick is both documentary and cinematic recreation of the work of researchers David Goudsward, Dr. Richard Spence and others- it is as much a story of the research as it is the research itself. Watch it on YouTube at @StrangeMagickFilm It was a fascinating and fun conversation, and a great one for Lovecraft fans. Ph'nglui mglw'nafh Cthulhu R'lyeh wgah'nagl fhtagn! In addition to the YouTube channel, you can keep up with the documentary by following strangemagickfilm on instagram. Bill and Dave can both be found on Facebook as well. Find Dave Goudsward's books here: http://goudsward.com/dave/…

Fred Andersson returns to the show this week to discuss some wild cases from his home country of Sweden, including sightings of mummies, gnomes, and lake monsters! Fred had previously appeared on the show to discuss Jaws 3-D for one of the Third Time's the Charm (3xtC) episodes, but he just has too many cool stories to share to not have him back on for that. In addition, he's a wonderful researcher and just an absolute pleasure to talk to or listen to. He and AP also get into "phantom stranger" encounters, with each sharing personal tales- and perhaps finding a new connection in one of Fred's strange stories! The conversation runs the paranormal gamut, and as always is the case with Fred it was an entertaining and illuminating chat. Check out Fred's book here: https://www.amazon.com/Northern-Lights-High-Strangeness-Sweden/dp/1954528728 And follow his work on Medium here: https://medium.com/@fred-andersson…

Robert Guffey joins AP in this episode for a lengthy and mind-bending chat that covers a lot of weird ground. Robert is a well-known writer and author of both fiction and non-fiction, and in this chat the difficulty in telling the difference between the two is well illustrated. One of his books, Chameleo , is discussed at length- in particular, how much of what seemed fantastic or crazy in it when it was released ten years ago now seems eerily prescient. In addition, Robert discusses his newest book, The Expectant Mother Disinformation Handbook , and his short stories from Cryptopolis; science fiction and how it overlaps with secret government projects; how stories are told in media broadly about weird and paranoid subject matter; all this and more! Check out Robert's site here: http://cryptoscatology.com/ If you haven't read Chameleo, you can get a copy here: https://orbooks.com/catalog/chameleo/…

Viva Las Vegas! This week AP chats with Jeff Knox, a wonderful UFO researcher and cohost of the YouTube show Ufo Sunset, about Leprechaun 3. AP had come up with the idea of a Leprechanathon- that is, watching all of the Leprechaun movies in a row, and being the madman that his Mr. Knox actually did it! In keeping with the Third Time's the Charm formula, the chat focuses on the Vegas-set third installment but the conversation goes all over the map. From struggles to find internal consistency in the franchise to attempting to understand the dynamics of leprechaun magics, a lot of very silly ground gets covered- with some dirty limericks thrown in to boot! This episode resulted from a conversation in the show's discord channel- if you are interested in joining the little community over there, send AP a message via Instagram, BlueSky, or smoke signal and he'll let you in! Find Jeff on those sites under @mrjeffknox , and check out his YouTube shows and lectures here: https://www.youtube.com/@UfoSunset1947…

This week's episode is a journey through sound and melody, as AP talks with Mike Fiorito about the interrelation between music and the Phenomenon. Mike is a musician, and a freelance music journalist, and also an award-winning author. His latest book, UFO Symphonic- Journeys Into Sound delves into the complex relationship between creativity, the unknown, and consciousness, and specifically the role music plays in all of it. Being a combination of speculation and personal accounts, both his own and those he collected from a variety of musicians, his "polyphonic" approach to the mystery of UFOs and other unexplained phenomena provides plenty of food for thought. He and AP discuss stories and themes from the book, but also wander off into other fun territories such as weird Elvis stuff, the dangers of driving in Boston, and Italian-American superstition. Mike's insights and poetic approach to the mysteries of the world are a pleasure to explore. Check out his website, where you can also find his books, here: https://mikefiorito.com/…

All Hail Discordia! On this episode, comic book artist Bobby Campbell joins AP to discuss his ongoing project to adapt the Illuminatus! Trilogy into comic form. The classic of 1970s high weirdness written by Robert Anton Wilson and Bob Shea is a centerpiece in the world of Discordianism, and adapting it to other media is no small task. Bobby talks about collaborating with others, such as Todd Purse, to bring the story to life on the page in Tales of Illuminatus! He and AP go all over the weird map in this chat, covering not just Wilson and the Discordians- they get into the nitty gritty of creative endeavors, the value of sincerity, the madness of the world and making art in spite of it all, and most importantly following your bliss as an act of resistance. Bobby is a teacher, an artist, the founder. of MLJC LLC, and an all around wonderful guest. Find him online here: https://weirdoverse.com/ and check out Tales of Illuminatus! here: https://talesofilluminatus.com/…

Maevius Lynn joins AP this week to explore the living tradition of Thelema and discuss the complicated legacy of Aleister Crowley. Lynn is a practicing Thelemic ceremonial magician, a writer, an artist, and a lecturer who offers a unique perspective to an often misunderstood realm of the occult and religious thought. She has a knack for explaining advanced theory in a way that is easy to understand, and does so in her published articles and on her YouTube channel in a way that is inviting, encouraging, and informative. In this episode Lynn shares parts of her own story, what led her to Thelema and what that looks like in our modern age. Along the way she and AP discuss popular misconceptions around Thelemic terminology, practice, and history and also unpack the life and beliefs of Crowley. It was a wide-ranging and fascinating discussion, and Lynn offers a lot of practical advice and insight for those looking to start a mystical journey of their own. Make sure you follow Maevius Lynn on YouTube! https://www.youtube.com/@MaeviusLynn…

This week, AP and guest co-host Blackwolf John Oates chat with Aaron Gulyas about Star Trek III: The Search For Spock! Setting phasers to "snark", they boldly go where many nerds have gone before in dissecting Star Trek as a franchise, focusing on the original cast and the motion pictures they appeared in. The conversation takes a lot of turns and goes in many geeky directions, including (but not limited to): the dynamics of the original crew, nostalgia for movies with old guys running around, cavalier methods of time travel, whether Bones was a swinger, Roddenberry's many shortcomings, and more! Aaron is the host of the long-running podcast The Saucer Life, which examines events and people around the subject of UFOs. The podcast is a personal favorite of AP's. He is also a historian, a teacher, an author, and a two-time Jeopardy! contestant. He has a great sense of humor and a wealth of knowledge about all things flying saucer and sci-fi related, and it was a great pleasure to have him on the show. Check out The Saucer Life here: https://saucerlife.com/ And find Aaron's books here: https://www.amazon.com/stores/author/B00958F6ZM…

Journalist and author Doug Brod joins AP in this episode to discuss his recent biography Born With a Tail: The Devilish Life and Wicked Times of Anton Szandor LaVey . Doug is currently an editor at the Toronto Star , and was formerly editor in chief for SPIN and TV Guide. He has also written for The New York Times, Billboard, Hollywood Reporter, and Fangoria. Doug's entertaining narrative of LaVey's life and works fills in a lot of gaps left by previous writings on the man, and gets to questions about the nature of truth with larger-than-life figures such as the founder of the Church of Satan. He and AP talk in this episode about the Church, personalities around it, and LaVey's complicated and sometimes problematic philosophy. Also discussed are his aspirations toward celebrity, such as his insistent claims of involvement in the making of Rosemary's Baby , his friendship with Jayne Mansfield, and his appearance in the truly odd horror film The Devil's Rain ... not to mention Sammy Davis Jr., who almost had a TV show in which he played a minion of Hell! In addition Brod was able to interview and gain new insights from people who knew LaVey, such as Jaques Vallee, Don Frew, Nikolas Schreck, and others- resulting in an array of opinions about the controversial and impactful figure. There's also a brief discussion of Doug's first book, They Just Seem a Little Weird: How KISS, Cheap Trick, Aerosmith, and Starz Remade Rock and Roll. Be sure to check out his books, available on Amazon (although it's preferred if you can order it through your local bookseller!). You can order the book directly from the publisher here: https://www.hachettebookgroup.com/titles/doug-brod/born-with-a-tail/9780306833311/?lens=grand-central-publishing…

For this week's show, the inimitable Stephanie Quick joins AP for a look at the cultural context around the San Francisco Bay area and her lived experience there. Offering context for a variety of personalities and organizations tangential to weird studies, the artistic and political movements of the area from the 1960s to the present are examined. Stephanie is one of AP's favorite people to chat with, a notable fortean, synchronicity explorer and self-described Julia Child of Sex Magic. She brings a wealth of knowledge and lived experience from her decades living in and around the Bay Area, and points out often overlooked aspects of it that made it an attractive place for people with fringe beliefs. It is hoped that through the lens of her personal observations, and localized history, listeners will have a better understanding about people and traditions in the Weirdosphere that seem to center on it. Among the topics covered are pacifist movements, racial justice movements, avant-garde art and music, cooperative living and commerce arrangements, the early punk scene, disability advocacy, Alcatraz, and more!…

This week's episode has the one-and-only Loyd Auerbach, aka Professor Paranormal, sharing his thoughts and observations from his decades-long career in parapsychology. He is a mentalist, author, investigator of paranormal claims, a chocolatier, and teaches parapsychology courses at the Rhine Education Center and Atlantic University. He and AP get into the nitty gritty of mentalism and stage magic, and where it overlaps with the ghostly and psi research. From there, they discuss everything from PK effects on machinery, Stupid Psychic Tricks, ghost planes, and spoon bending. Also discussed is the role of humor in investigation and in presentation of ideas and concepts related to the paranormal. Loyd's charm and wit have served him well in publicly presenting the science behind paranormal investigation, on shows such as Sightings and Coast to Coast AM - but also with some of the spirits he's encountered. It was an honor and a pleasure to have Loyd on the show! He was a big influence on a young AP. Check out his website here: https://loydauerbach.com/ And to take part in his live "Ask Professor Paranormal" events, subscribe to his YouTube channel here: https://www.youtube.com/@profparanormal…

This week's episode is a Third Time's the Charm (3xtC) offering featuring zombies! Bryan White drops into AP's underground bunker to talk about Day of the Dead , the third installment of the George Romero zombie flicks that began with Night of the Living Dead and more or less kicked off the whole genre of zombie movies. Bryan co-hosts the horror movie podcast Bring Me the Axe! with his brother Dave, and the two of them also host the shows 99c Rental and an X-Files rewatch podcast called Do You Think I'm Spooky? In addition, Bryan also has a music program called Radio Free Haddonfield- he's a busy man! This conversation includes an examination of the brutal special effects, the over-acting, and the not-quite-met goals of the movie. Discussed also: Bub the Zombie, the Return of the Living Dead franchise, how ratings systems affected movie distribution in the 80s, video rental store memories, and important questions like how getting one's head pulled off affects the pitch of one's scream. It was a really fun chat! Check out Bring Me the Axe! here: https://bringmetheaxe.com/…

Solomon Pakal joins AP this week for a far-ranging discussion of occult concepts and strange phenomena, with a focus on Meso America and the Maya roots of ideas still prevalent today. Solomon is a historian, a practitioner of magic, an author, and just generally an amazingly knowledgable researcher and seeker after mystical truths. He talks a bit about his story, his lineage of Guatemalan brujeria and upbringing in Washington, D.C. and how they informed his studies in the ancient practices and history of Maya. He breaks down a lot of misconceptions, the complicated effects of colonization and how it changes the magic and phenomena in the region, and provides examples of entities regularly reported (and sometimes filmed!) throughout Central America. Solomon's work is important and much needed, because as discussed in this episode narratives such as Mayan Calendar doomsday prophecies and how the culture is misrepresented in shows such as Ancient Aliens. It was a fascinating conversation that went in a lot of directions, and listeners are encouraged to check out Solomon's work elsewhere!…

They focus in particular on the esoteric and mystical aspects of his movies and Twin Peaks, while also touching on his visual art and music. A lot of ground gets covered here, including (but not limited to) allusions to The Wizard of Oz, Lynch's decades-long practice of Transcendental Meditation, synchronicity, overlaps from UFOlogy into his work, and comparisons to themes found in the Seth Materials. Professor WHAM is an author, a teacher, an occultist and longtime researcher of UFOs and the paranormal. She's one of AP's favorite voices in the paraweird, and listeners are strongly encouraged to check out her website, books, and YouTube channel. Blackwolf John Oates returns to the show to discuss the baffling life and times of Ted Serios, Thoughtographer. Blackwolf first appeared for a Third Time's the Charm (3xtC) episode about RoboCop, but this time he and AP get into more paranormal subject matter. Ted Serios is a fascinating character, and a case study of just how wacky paranormal phenomena and the personalities that instigate it can be. He was reportedly able to psychically project his thoughts onto film, taking polaroids of images from his mind's eye with the aid of his "gismo"- all of which was studied by Dr. Jule Eisenbud, a parapsychologist who ultimately wrote a book called The World of Ted Serios. It was a great conversation about a case that seems to get overlooked or forgotten- the tale of an alcoholic, unemployed Chicago bellhop who once channeled a pirate and took pictures with his mind- and the scientist who championed him.…

Drawing on a background in journalism and publishing, as well as critical film analysis, he has pulled as nuances in paranormal storytelling through factors such as economics, social and political viewpoints, and even the use of lighting in documentaries. He and AP get into a little bit of all of this in the show, and listeners are encouraged to check out Walker's site for more! It's another Third Time's the Charm episode of The AP Strange Show, and this one is a doozy! This 3xtC episode enters the third dimension of terror for a disaster of a film called Jaws 3-D. Fred and AP are unafraid to go back into the water, analyzing this third installment in ways that most people wouldn't dare, or for that matter, care to. Conversation naturally meanders into a lot of tangential territories, and many laughs were had. Fred is a charming and fun guest, and will have to return again! As 2024 draws to a close, it seemed only appropriate to enjoy a Twilight Zone marathon as a sort of New Year's Eve ritual. Joining AP as he explores the dimension between light and shadow is none other than writer, artist, and host of the 6 Degrees of John Keel Podcast Barbara Fisher! Barbara and AP discuss their favorite episodes, in particular focusing on ones which seem to illustrate elements of real-life reports of high strangeness, as well as the social messages which are eerie in their continuing relevance today. It's the kind of chat that was bound to go on for a while, and easily could have gone on much longer! Fans of the Zone will enjoy this episode, but it also serves as a good primer for those who never really watched it and points to a handful of the really classic ones to look up. Sequoyah is a musician, writer, and had been the co-host of the mind-expanding podcast The Nonsense Bazaar and has a uniquely fine-tuned mind for untangling ill-conceived narratives. This chat ran a bit long, but there's just so much to say...…
