What is the taste of audiences in small towns of India? How different it it? OR is it not after the arrival of OTT? How do they think? What do they enjoy? Why are filmmakers and content creators not including them in their creation? or is it OK to include them?
Some of these pertinent questions and more with our guest Akkshay Rathie.
Mr. Akkshay Rathie is a film exhibitor & distributor with operations spread across the central Indian states of Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh & Chhattisgarh. While carrying forward a 70 years old legacy in the show business, Akkshay has been a pioneer in the process of consolidation of the film exhibition sector by orchestrating a first of its kind alliance between single screen cinemas of his chain with the Cinepolis, one of the largest exhibition chains in the world that operates from Mexico.
A few tidbits that we got was: When Gadar 2 trailer came out- there was nothing expected out of it. In fact the word of mouth was complete opposite to the final results of the film - it broke all the previous records, myths and understanding of boxoffice in India for everyone including the makers.
Movies like Shubh Mangal Svdhan a small town story, did well not in small towns bur urban india.
Did you know that 45 percent of the screens in India are in the South- with north India having comparatively lesser film screens.
