Deddrick Wilmer is running for Congress as a Republican in Texas’ 9th District.
We discussed some of the things he plans to do (flood mitigation, power lines underground to ensure continuity of service during big weather events), the transparency and accountability he pledges to provide (and demand of the federal government), his message of inclusion (“bringing everyone together as one”), and the issue we hope he adopts (exposing the hundreds of billions of dollars in federal small business contracts that actually go to big businesses).

The American Small Business League believes that the winning issue is the fact that women are 50% of the population and own 42% of all businesses – but firms owned by men have received over 95% of all federal contracts for decades.
Elections are won and lost by 1% to 2% of the vote. Appealing to women and fair-minded voters with a common-sense way to significantly boost the small business economy is a winning campaign strategy.
Giving women 25% of federal small business contracts (not the 5% they are supposed to get but don’t) would create 2 million new jobs every year (on top of the 2 million job that America typically creates each year). In other words, it would create a huge economic boom.
Every year hundreds of billions of dollars in federal contracts meant for small businesses go to big businesses instead, and the SBA falsely claims that small businesses get those contracts. Small businesses would create two million new jobs if they got those contracts. (Big businesses don’t create jobs to perform those contracts because they are already big.)
99.9% of all US firms are small businesses. The only way to make America great is to help small businesses.
