Dear Feel Love Now Community,

Many of us have been taught that a quiet mind is the goal of meditation. But the mind’s movement isn’t a mistake. Thoughts are part of being human. Instead of fearing them, what if we welcomed them with playfulness and curiosity, like a child jumping joyfully into a pile of leaves?Meditation isn’t about stopping the mind; it’s about transforming our relationship with it. You don’t need to silence your thoughts to find peace. You just need to meet them with kindness.

Here’s one of our favorite quotes from the video:

“In my own experience of meditation practice, I was thinking of leaves. I actually had a vision of a little child jumping into a pile of leaves and celebrating the leaves. ”It actually saddens me that how we have spoken about meditation and how we—many of us—have taught about meditation, is that we have made a problem of our thoughts. It’s a boogeyman. Somehow we think we are supposed to get rid of our thoughts and that horrible monkey mind. ”What happens in that dynamic of a relationship with a wandering mind? The mind wanders. That’s the nature of the mind. Let’s stop trying to get the mind to do something that it’s not meant to do or keep it from doing what it’s meant to do. It’s just the mind. Let’s transform our relationship with all of those thoughts. They’re just thoughts for goodness sake.”
