Manage episode 357721779 series 3301130
"Olegs":
Olegs Latisevs is a professional basketball referee who is officiating in the EuroLeague, the top-tier European professional basketball league.
Latisevs has been a EuroLeague referee since the 2007-2008 season and has officiated numerous high-profile games in the competition, overall having been a professional referee for over 20 years.
He has also officiated in other European basketball competitions such as the EuroCup and the FIBA Champions League. In addition to his EuroLeague duties, Latisevs has also officiated in international basketball competitions such as the FIBA World Cup and the Olympic Games in London and Rio in the past.
In this episode Oļegs and me talked about the officiating job and the different challenges that it comes with. It's the most scrutinized profession in this basketball world and we picked apart all the different topics that matter. Besides talking about pre-game & post-game analysis, we talked a lot about the in-game dynamics, how the communication process between the referees and the coaches as well as the players works. Manipulation, Controlling Emotions, Meetings & Disagreements amongst colleagues and much more!
Oļegs also brought interesting statistics about the education and background level of all the referees participating in the Euroleague, shedding light on their personal life a bit.
