In mid‑July 2025, the Trump administration deported five foreign nationals convicted of murder, child rape, armed robbery, and gang-related violence from the United States to Eswatini, under an expedited “safe third country” policy enabled by a recent Supreme Court decision. The individuals originated from Vietnam, Laos, Yemen, Cuba, and Jamaica - all nations that refused their repatriation. The Eswatini government accepted them under conditions of isolation in correctional facilities, with a stated plan for eventual repatriation with assistance from the International Organisation for Migration.
