PhD Candidate Melissa Adamski is interested in communication for nutrition professionals in the new and digital age. How can we become the online experts when we [dietitians] are the in-person experts? Melissa says we have the opportunity to learn from these social media influencers on how to market and teach nutrition to the online community. Melissa’s research is focussed on the evaluation and qualitative data within Monash’s Food is Medicine course, once containing 60,000 participants and 100,000 comments. We discuss how nutrition information is being shared online by popular non-professionals, discussion forums and individual’s interactions in these groups (her research), MOOCs (massive online open course).
