My HoneyDew this week is comedian Francisco Ramos! Check out his new comedy special, Venezuela'Merican, on YouTube now! Francisco joins me to highlight the lowlights of his Venezuelan upbringing in America, his family dynamic, the passing of his late father, and the impact it has had on his life since. Francisco describes what it’s like living with a double identity—being himself at home, but ‘Frank’ at school. He shares the warm way his grandma would greet him by saying things like, “You’ve gotten fat.” He opens up about his family's challenges in expressing emotion to one another, even during a time like his father’s passing. Francisco also talks about leaning more into his Venezuelan roots in comedy as a way to feel connected to his late father now.
