Episode Description:
Most people won’t change unless they absolutely have to. Even when they know something isn’t working, it’s easier to stay in patterns that feel familiar than it is to step into the unknown. But if you’re seriously thinking about changing something in your life and you don’t have to, that puts you ahead of most people.

In this episode, I talk about what it really means to be ready for change. Not just saying you want it, but deciding that you’re the type of person who makes it happen. From there, it’s about taking that first step. That step might move you forward, or it might knock you back a bit. Either way, you learn from it and keep moving.

It’s not about doing it all at once. It’s about doing it in a way that works for you. That includes knowing when it’s not time yet. If you’re not ready, you’re not ready. But if you are, trust yourself and start. The people who succeed aren’t always the ones with the perfect plan. They’re the ones who take action and adjust as they go.

We were never really taught how to express emotions, and for many of us, vulnerability feels unnatural or unsafe. But I want you to know it's okay to feel. It's okay to speak. And it’s not just okay… it’s necessary. I open up about my own journey in identifying my emotions and learning how to express them. It hasn’t been easy, and maybe you’ve been in that same place—surrounded by people who don’t know how to receive vulnerability. That’s why I’m encouraging you to start by building a connection with yourself. Sit with your thoughts. Practice mindfulness. Use journaling, affirmations, and creativity to explore what’s really going on inside. But I’ll also tell you that therapy is the ultimate game-changer. Not every therapist will be a great fit, but finding the right one can help you untangle so much of the heaviness you’ve been carrying. And if you’re in relationships where you can’t express yourself safely, it might be time to rethink who’s in your support circle. If you’ve felt stuck, unseen, or like your emotions don’t matter, this one’s for you. I see you. And I promise, this work is worth it. As we evolve, heal, or just grow into who we truly are, the relationships around us start to shift. Some people drift away naturally. Others step back because the version of ourselves we’re stepping into no longer aligns with where they are. I share how those shifts aren’t necessarily good or bad. They’re just real. This isn’t about blaming others or calling them toxic. It’s about accepting that not everyone is meant to walk the full journey with us. Some are here for a season, some for a lifetime, and all of them contribute to who we’re becoming. Letting go with peace, rather than resentment, is one of the most freeing things we can do. And the more we learn to be honest with ourselves about who we are and what we value, the clearer it becomes who belongs in our life and in what capacity. Tune in as I talk about realignment, healthy disconnection, and what it means to filter your relationships through clarity, not bitterness. We live in a world filled with snap judgments, surface-level takes, and constant noise. But when you actually choose to explain your thoughts, your behavior, or your beliefs to someone — that’s a gift. It’s not something people are entitled to. I talk about what it means to live from the inside/out and how important it is to remember that most of your interactions are fleeting. Most people won’t even get a response from you, let alone an explanation. So when you decide to open up and give someone that kind of access, it matters. And on the flip side, when someone explains themselves to you, that’s a privilege too. In this episode, I walk through how to set those boundaries, how to respect them, and how to decide who’s really worth your energy. It usually sounds logical. We tell ourselves it’s selfish, unrealistic, or that the timing just isn’t right. But deep down, we feel stuck because we’re not taking action. And when that cycle continues long enough, we start believing we’re just not someone who follows through. The way out of that cycle is action. Even before you “decide,” you move. You take one small step, and then another. Those steps reshape your identity and rebuild your self-trust. I also dive into how so many people are stuck in a life they never actually wanted, making the best of a situation they talked themselves into. It’s not always a crisis—it’s often a reconnection with who you really are. If you’ve been feeling like you’re boxed into your life, this is your invitation to open the lid. Not for anyone else. Before you take action or start tracking habits, you have to decide to trust yourself. Most of us are told that action builds belief, but the problem is that this makes you productive out of fear. You become reliant on doing something just to feel worthy. Instead, I talk about how choosing to believe in yourself first flips the script. The actions you take after that become reminders of the decision you’ve already made. It’s a subtle shift, but it’s everything. If you’ve ever felt stuck or like you’re just pretending to be confident, this episode is for you. I share how this ties into the bigger picture of living an inside/out life and how to build momentum through mindset first, not just behavior. Join The YLF Experience: https://app.moonclerk.com/pay/5t93iox9udm3 In this episode of The Daryl Perry Podcast, we’re taking on imposter syndrome from a completely different angle. I’m not telling you to wait for proof or collect results before you believe in yourself. I’m asking you to flip that. Decide first. Decide that you are the type of person who does the thing you’re aiming to do. Then take the action. This is not about faking it or waiting to “earn” your place. It’s about reinforcing a belief you already chose to adopt. The way we usually approach confidence is backwards. We think we need a track record before we can claim something. But what if that track record actually becomes more meaningful when it supports a belief we’ve already accepted? In this episode, I explain why waiting to feel like you belong will keep you in a cycle of doubt. I also talk about how your mind will try to pull you back into that loop. This isn’t a one-time mindset shift. It’s a process. It will take repetition and self-awareness. But the more you do it, the more it becomes your new normal. I break down how this works whether you're trying something new in your career, fitness, personal development or any other area of life. If you believe you’re the type of person who follows through, creates, or builds… your actions will support that identity. It’s about working with yourself, not against yourself. If you're ready to start reinforcing your own belief system instead of constantly trying to prove yourself to others, this episode will help you begin that shift. Join The YLF Experience: https://app.moonclerk.com/pay/5t93iox9udm3 In this episode of The Daryl Perry Podcast, I’m diving into something that seems simple on the surface but can be a huge shift in how you navigate the world. Let people be who they are. That’s it. No fixing, no reshaping, no wishing someone was different. When you stop trying to put people into boxes or mold them into who you think they should be, you free yourself from so much frustration and disappointment. The truth is, people only change when they are ready to. The same goes for you and me. All the guilt trips and nagging in the world can’t force someone to make a lasting change. So why not drop the expectations and meet people where they are? This mindset doesn’t mean you don’t care. It just means you’re choosing peace over control and connection over judgment. This episode also touches on giving yourself grace when your thoughts run wild or you slip into old habits. I talk about aiming for progress over perfection and using kindness and curiosity to guide how you respond to others and yourself. There’s even a little side trail into aging, forgotten stories, and living a longer life with more purpose… because you know how my mind works sometimes. So if you’re ready to breathe a little easier and build stronger connections with the people around you, this one’s for you. Some people see us as the hero, others as the villain, and most just see us in passing. The same is true for how we view others. In this episode, I explore how our perceptions shape the stories we tell ourselves about people and how easy it is to be completely wrong. It’s wild when you think about how confident we can be in our judgment of others, yet we’d be shocked if we heard what some people think about us. The truth is, most of what we believe about people is shaped by our own experiences, insecurities, and the desire to make sense of the world. And while there are definitely cases where protecting yourself is necessary, most of the time, there’s more nuance than we care to admit. This episode is a reminder to soften the way we view others. To check our assumptions. To find the good when we can. And at the very least, to acknowledge that we rarely know the full picture. Life is messy. People are complex. And most of us are just doing the best we can. If you’ve ever been misunderstood or unfairly labeled, you know how painful that can be. This is about not doing that to others. Not the roles you play for other people, not the titles you hold, but when it’s quiet and you’re left with just yourself… who are you really? In this episode, I’m diving into a deep reflection on identity, self-connection, and what happens when we start removing all the external labels we’ve been using to define ourselves. Many of us go through life gathering achievements and stacking accomplishments. From the outside, it looks like success. But if you’re doing it all while feeling a little bit lost or drained inside, you’re not alone. I talk about how that feeling is often a sign that it’s time to reconnect with the person underneath all the responsibilities. This episode is an invitation to strip away the labels and reflect on how you see yourself at every stage of your life. Can you look back with compassion? Can you recognize what you needed and maybe still need? This kind of self-awareness takes time. But when you start to understand who you are without all the titles, you begin to see how powerful your relationship with yourself really is. Fitness and personal development go hand in hand. And this kind of inner work sets the tone for everything else. So take a moment, ask yourself the question, and maybe even journal it out… who are you for you? I’m diving into the mindset around starting something new and the emotional weight we often attach to potential failure. You might already know the logical stuff. You know failure is part of learning. You know you’ll get better by doing. But emotionally? It still hits hard when your self-worth feels tied to your progress. The fear of failing isn’t always about failing. It’s about what that failure says about us. But here’s the truth. The fear won’t vanish overnight. You just get better at seeing it for what it is… uncertainty. And with time, uncertainty becomes something you work with instead of run from. I also talk about what really happens when you take action before you're ready. Spoiler alert… it usually doesn’t stick. But when you're genuinely ready, even if you don’t have the tools, the roadmap, or the confidence, you’ll figure it out along the way. Starting creates momentum. And momentum builds your process. I share how that’s played out for me in podcasting and how letting go of perfection helped me find my own flow. Your process doesn’t have to look like anyone else’s. Actually, it shouldn’t . Because your process is part of what makes your work uniquely yours. So if you’re caught in the loop of “should I start or should I wait,” this is your reminder that it’s okay to wait until you’re ready. Life can feel isolating and overwhelming, and it's easy to fall into the belief that you’re not seen or understood. But the truth is, you are not alone. There are people out there who will appreciate you for who you are, and sometimes all it takes to find them is leaning into the things you love. Whether it's wrestling, fantasy books, or dead malls, there’s a niche for everyone. I share a bit about my own interests, like how much I love pro wrestling and how conversations around shared hobbies can open the door to deeper, more meaningful connections. It’s not just about finding people who like the same things as you. It’s about realizing that those common threads can lead to friendships and support systems that make life feel a little less heavy. I also talk about why I built Your Level Fitness the way I did. From day one, I wanted it to be inclusive. The fitness industry often creates silos and cliques, where you’re judged by the workout you do or the food choices you make. That’s not how I wanted this community to be. I wanted to bring people together who are working through the inside/out process of health and fitness, in a space where they feel supported and understood. This episode is really about human connection. And if you're feeling disconnected, I hope this gives you some ideas on how to take a step toward community. You don’t have to do life alone. You just have to be willing to look for your people and stay open. Thanks for being here. I’m really glad you are. How do you want to feel? Not what you’ve been told to chase. Not the goals others have set for you. But you . Deep down. What do you actually want your day-to-day experience to feel like? We talk a lot about living an inside-out life, where you're building your foundation from who you are and how you want to live. But it all starts with knowing what you’re moving toward. Whether it’s peace, happiness, confidence, excitement, or calm, you get to choose. And once you know what that feeling is, it becomes easier to recalibrate when life throws things off. I also share my own barometer — aiming to feel aligned about eighty five percent of the time. Not perfection, not all-or-nothing. Just enough to be in tune and know when I’m drifting. That kind of awareness gives you the ability to respond instead of react. And it helps you build a life that truly feels like yours. So today’s episode is short and reflective. I encourage you to check in with yourself. Journal if it helps. Pause for a minute and really think about how you want to feel in your life. Whether I was eight, sixteen, thirty, or now at forty-three, I’ve had moments where I doubted myself. I’ve also had dreams that never fully went away, even when life told me to be more realistic. The message in this episode is for anyone who’s felt like giving up, who’s been talked out of their ambitions, or who’s learned to hide who they really are to try to fit in. I talk about my journey growing up with cerebral palsy, trying to blend in, and eventually realizing that the box others tried to place me in was never meant for me. I open up about how the fitness industry gave me a space to build confidence, how storytelling and marketing helped shape my purpose, and how I started using my voice and presence online to inspire others. You’ll hear how long it took me to stop hiding, to show my body in motion, and to push past the fear of being judged for how I move. This is a reminder that your dreams are still valid. That even if you’ve set them aside, they can come back. That opportunities evolve, and you grow into the person who can see and act on them. You won’t get it all right, and you’re not supposed to. But every experience shapes how you show up. The most powerful thing you can do is love and appreciate who you are and where you are right now.
