In today's episode, we're exploring: Pixels & Processors: AI In The Game.
The journey of processing intelligence in video games dates back to the early days of gaming in the 1950s and 1960s. One of the earliest examples is the game of Nim, a mathematical strategy game that was implemented on a computer called the Nimrod in 1951.
Following this, advanced computers began to make their mark in more complex games. In 1952, the game OXO, also known as Noughts and Crosses, mimicked an early form of AI which made the game capable of playing tic-tac-toe against a human opponent. These early implementations laid the groundwork for more sophisticated pre AI applications in gaming.
