I kick off by laying down why rituals irritate the hell out of me—especially when they cross from personal quirks into widespread dysfunction. I break down the difference between a habit (like grabbing a coffee at Starbucks) and a ritual (such as compulsively needing a certain number of steps to enter the building). Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) and its visible signs are not just isolated mental health issues—they often manifest in our everyday actions unnoticed.

Religion, Ritual, and Rational Thought

I talk openly about being happily agnostic and appreciating Jesus' core philosophy without buying into the ritual-heavy practices of organized religion, particularly the Catholic Church. I share why I believe Jesus Christ wouldn't recognize himself in today's Catholic framework, highlighting how rituals have overtaken meaning in many religions.

The Death of Popes and the Mass Ritual Machine

Finally, I dig into the death of a pope, a ritual that millions blindly participate in. From ornate ceremonies to outdated traditions, I express my frustration at how ritualistic hypnosis sweeps up huge parts of the population, overriding intellect and reason.
