Some tidbits:
1. Uber is partnering with municipalities to increase transit capacity when demand density is low.
2. It is a cost effective model for municipalities since cost is flexible and dependent on the number of rides and usage; contrary to public transit where costs are fixed and on a per hour basis.
3. The partnership can also help businesses with transportation issues and be subsidized by government.
4. Safety functionalities are being integrated on the app for those wary of safety issues with Uber.
5. The partnership also allows Uber to redirect passengers to transit facilities; Uber noticed that demand is price sensitive and drops when fares are north of $20.
6. Public transit is ineffective when it comes to the last mile and to low density areas, solutions will need to be more personalized and that's where Uber can step in.
