It's episode two of Season Seven, and we're flying high with our latest guest!

Sophie Zienkiewicz is on a mission to decarbonise the aviation fuel industry, and make 'Sustainable Aviation Fuel' (SAF) the new normal.

With only 0.5% of the airline industry currently using SAF, Sophie and the team at CNF Energy are doing all they can to change that.

A single round trip from London to New York emits just over 2 tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalents, and the average carbon footprint in the UK is 5.4 tonnes per person. So flying can typically be someone's single biggest source of CO2 in a year.

But as Sophie points out, it is not flying itself which is the problem. It is the environmental impact of aviation fuel which is the issue. Change the fuel, reduce the impact.

So join James as he sat down with Sophie to discuss:

👣 A journey launched by COP26
🤐 Managing challenges in communication around the impact of aviation
📈 The aim to reach 10% global SAF by 2030
💰 Challenges in financing SAF and SAF technology
🛠️ Securing a Government grant and entering the design phase
🏦 Crowdfunding as the first publicly listed SAF company
... and much more! ✨

This was a great episode, and we particularly loved Sophie's quote, "By 2030 I want to have our future Prime Minister flying on our Sustainable Aviation Fuel".

We hope you enjoy the episode 💚
